You are beautiful now — Not when you lose 20lbs

Can we stop judging our bodies and how lovable we are based on what we see in media?

Beauty comes from the inside.

So many times we have a breakout, a bad hair day, or cellulite, and we begin to cut ourselves down, feeling like we are undesirable.

We need to be our own best friend. We need to think kind and loving thoughts that build us up. We are beautiful in every shape, size, color, style, and stage of life.

So many people have looked at me and judged my life, thinking I’ve had it so easy or that I don’t understand.

But can you imagine the pressure and self-doubt that surfaces as a fashion blogger before every red carpet, photo shoot, or networking event?

Being homeschooled, I’ve always felt like the outsider. I’ve been bullied, abused, loved, and hated. But, I work everyday (and sometimes every moment) to take deep breaths in hard times and channel my thoughts to those of personal grace and kindness.

  
There is no doubt yoga and meditation have saved the day for me!

Here are some affirmations that help me:

“I am lovable because I exist”

“I am worth loving”

“I am safe”

“I am beautiful and everyone loves me” — This one always makes me smile.

“I am at peace with myself”

“I approve of myself”

“I release all criticism of others and most importantly, of myself” – This one is huge.

“Out of this situation only good will come”

“All is well, I am safe”

If you aren’t familiar with affirmations, they are words (can be negative or positive) that speak encouragement or discouragement to/over yourself and others.

Every time we think a thought or say a word, this is an affirmation.

For example, when I open my WordPress application (haha, who says ‘application’ and not ‘app’? Lol, me, I guess!) and think, “Ugh, no one reads my blog“, that is a HUGE affirmation.

Do you know what happens next? I might stop writing, feel disappointment, discourage myself more with negative affirmations …

The crazy part? This is an assumption in my own mind! Sure, I can check out my blog analytics to determine that I actually have tons of amazing readers, but no, I decide to cut myself down before I even try.

Independent Fashion Bloggers, fabulous things, nails, diamonds,

 

Same with diets, addiction, socializing, job interviews, dating. The list goes on and on.

How many times have you made up your mind that something is going to either suck or be unsuccessful before you even start?

If you said never, you need to remember the first rule your mom taught you … do not lie. Haha! (JK!)

We have all done this. But, with between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day, you get to decide what direction YOU want to point your mind.

You CAN control your thinking. It’s just a muscle that needs strengthening.
