Just Chill, Chick.

As talented women in pursuit of our DreamLives in Hollywood, we are the #1 go-getters. We are the goal-diggers who hit the ground running every morning, a running list already in mind of the many things we plan to accomplish. Our days are composed of endless to-do lists and nights are busy, steadily preparing for the next early start. Such productivity is beyond admirable but at some point you must give yourself a break. You deserve time to wind down, relax, and release.

A wise individual once said, “Don’t spend so much time making a living that you forget to live a life.” In our daily comings and goings, it’s very easy to slip into a routine of simply completing tasks instead of accomplishing goals. Yes, you may finally receive the promotion you’ve waited for or maybe you were recognized for that major project that was the result of all your own brainpower (despite what others insist). But what is it all worth if you don’t take the time to be proud of yourself and relish in the moment? It is okay to celebrate your own successes and to simply sometimes take time off! Running on empty for days at a time is not only physically draining, but mentally and emotionally unhealthy. Always remember that wherever the mind goes, the body will follow. If you push yourself to a limit that inhibits your mental stability, the effects will very well become apparent in your career or academic pursuits (not to mention relationships!).

To understand better and perhaps receive even more inspiration to allow yourself some down time, spend a few minutes watching a video by the famous YouTube personality, Shameless Maya. Maya is a beautiful, intelligent woman much like yourself who is independent and firmly committed to pursue her life goals. The initial goal of her channel on YouTube was to share tips and tutorials on hair styles and products for interested viewers. However, over time Maya’s audience has expanded to well over 300,000 subscribers. People all over the world watch her videos today because she now offers real-time advice on how to live a purposeful life and one that is healthy in every aspect. It is particularly her most recent video that is most relevant, which is entitled “Shameless Sunday: Keep Calm and Carry.” It exemplifies the importance of slowing down to do things that you simply enjoy to compensate for how much time you spend working, studying, researching…. and stressing!  Click the link below and have a chill pill, chick.

Slow down. Calm down. Don’t worry. Don’t hurry. Trust the process.
