As talented women in pursuit of our DreamLives in Hollywood, we are the #1 go-getters. We are the goal-diggers who hit the ground running every morning, a running list already in mind of the many things we plan to accomplish. Our days are composed of endless to-do lists and nights are busy, steadily preparing for the next early start. Such productivity is beyond admirable but at some point you must give yourself a break. You deserve time to wind down, relax, and release.
A wise individual once said, “Don’t spend so much time making a living that you forget to live a life.” In our daily comings and goings, it’s very easy to slip into a routine of simply completing tasks instead of accomplishing goals. Yes, you may finally receive the promotion you’ve waited for or maybe you were recognized for that major project that was the result of all your own brainpower (despite what others insist). But what is it all worth if you don’t take the time to be proud of yourself and relish in the moment? It is okay to celebrate your own successes and to simply sometimes take time off! Running on empty for days at a time is not only physically draining,but mentally and emotionally unhealthy. Always remember that wherever the mind goes, the body will follow. If you push yourself to a limit that inhibits your mental stability, the effects will very well become apparent in your career or academic pursuits (not to mention relationships!).
