Haley’s Tips to Eating Healthier (Including a Yummy Chocolate Pudding Recipe!)

Recently, I’ve gotten the opportunity to sit down and chat with some of the fabulous women in my network. These trendsetters and tastemakers are ladies with bright futures who wanted to share their advice, tips, and tricks to success with you!

My fabulous friend Haley Davis has been an entrepreneur for about a year and a half. She started Brewing Happiness, her blog and Instagram, as a hobby to combine her loves of food and photography after a bad breakup. Haley started to realize that Brewing Happiness could be a career around the same time she decided she no longer wanted to pursue an acting career and the pieces started to fall together. Now, we get to follow Haley on her journey to “Health-ier” eating and enjoy her amazing recipes and advice!

To anyone who wants to monetize their blog or to start a blog from scratch, Haley says that it’s super important to try to understand SEO (Search Engine Optimization) from the get-go so that you don’t have to waste time backlogging tons of old posts. If you’re going to pour your heart and soul into something, you want to make sure that people with similar passions will get to see it and enjoy it! Haley also says that it’s important to think about who your audience is and what you want to say to them. She joked that a bunch of her really old posts sound like they were written to her mom, but she says she has definitely evolved a lot as a writer/blogger along the way!

Haley’s Top Four Tips to Eating Healthier:

1) There are no cheat foods.

Haley believes that you can eat dessert every single day if you want and that you shouldn’t deprive yourself of the foods you love. That being said, she loves coming up with healthier versions of all kinds of foods by substituting ingredients that are better for you!

2) Health is a journey (not a destination).

According to Haley, health is made up of tons of small decisions to be healthier. This is why she calls the food she makes “Health-ier.” She says it’s important to care for your body, even in little ways, because every little bit counts!

3) Everything in moderation.

Even too much of a  good thing is too much, which is why over-the-top, extreme diets and binge-eating isn’t good for your body. Haley advocates finding a happy balance between eating what you love to eat and eating what is good for you!

4) Keep food fun!

Haley laughingly told me that food should be FUN! She says that people shouldn’t get so serious about “food rules” that they forget to enjoy food. This laid-back approach is a super healthy mindset to have because, like Haley says, it relieves the pressure to be perfect or eat perfectly healthy 100% of the time.
