Breast Cancer Awareness Dinner

Let’s get real here for a moment.

Breast cancer is an illness that, despite doctor’s best attempts, is still affecting thousands of women around the world. We all probably know someone who’s fought the battle. It makes my heart so sad. And that’s why I try all I can to do something about it.

I recently attended a Breast Cancer Awareness event at Fig & Olive, in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Nutritionist Elissa Goodman presented and gave everyone some wonderful health advice, especially emphasizing the benefits of a Mediterranean diet.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month… to honor it, Fig & Olive will be featuring a prix fixe dinner menu.

I got to sample the limited edition menu and let me say, Executive Chef Wilfrid Hocquet can seriously prepare one amazing meal.

The restaurant will also have “Pink Thursdays” – a Happy Hour (7-10pm) of PINK! Pink Bites, Pink Bubbles, Pink Wine, Pink Cocktails.

What’s amazing is that part of the proceeds from the special dinner and happy hour menu (only available this month) will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Even if you can’t make it to dinner this month, there are so many ways you can help… donate, run a 5k, a 10k, do a bake sale, visit a relative who is fighting the fight.

You have the power to the make the difference you want to see in this world. Maybe you won’t invent the medical cure, but you can put a smile on someone’s face or make them laugh — and sometimes that’s the best medicine.

I love you all. Thank you reading about something so dear to my heart.

XO,

Rachel McCord
