3 Tips to Stay Sane in Stress
When the stress of life makes you wanna throw up … what on earth do you do??
You know that feeling in the pit of your stomach that you just can’t shake? It is so loud you can barely sleep, yet so subtle no one can even tell you are struggling … well, until you snap at them for “no reason”.
What is it about life that makes you feel like that problem is the ONLY thing in the world that matters? More importantly, what do you do to make the anxiety stop!?
Step 1: Identify the source. This could be as simple as counting to 3 or could feel as impossible as staring at a white wall for 5 hours and waiting for a hand to appear and write the answer.
Whatever it is, you have to understand the source.
Step 2: Get namaste about it. Look, I know it sounds cheesy to quote the serenity prayer but let’s be honest, sometimes you have to accept the things you can’t change. It sucks but it is also incredibly freeing to just acknowledge that you have no control and will do the very best you can … but won’t be perfect.
Step 3: Change it. Sometimes we can make shifts to fix the problem. Is that an option for you? Before you knee jerk your no, think about it. Truly, can you make a change? Maybe it is a crazy person you’ve allowed in your life, maybe it is a money issue that needs (and deserves) your attention, maybe it is something in you that feels broken and needs to be addressed with a therapist. Whatever it is … break the stigma and stress around it but solving the issues.
